St Louis Musician in Library of Congress Concert

Florida born musician Walter Parks, recently relocated to Webster-Groves, is being featured next week for his research work and performances of the music of Southeast Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp.https://www.loc.gov/concerts/folklife/walter-parks.html

For 10 years Parks toured the world and recorded with Woodstock legend Richie Havens. Parks along with his wife and St Louis native Margo Parks returned to Webster after living in Jersey City. Margo’s aging parents needed help when the Covid struck in early March. Parks has strong St Louis ties having played in town many times on various tours with Havens and his own group Swamp Cabbage. Additionally Parks was a longtime boyhood friend of former St Louis ad executive Tom Townsend who’s shooting was covered in the SLPD. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/a-carjacker-nearly-took-his-life-but-tom-townsend-refuses-to-give-in-to-st/article_7ab8ec1d-1493-5ef3-8be0-03c74a170737.html
